In 1962, the parents divorced, Jamie Lee Curtis stayed with his mother and moved to New York with her. There she attended boarding school and later the “University Of The Pacific”. After only two months of acting studies, she broke off the training. She tried to shape her career independently of her parents. Without the protection of the parents, success was a long time coming, but it proved to be reliable. Curtis went to Hollywood and acted in roles in several TV series, such as Charlie’s Angels. In 1978, she landed a starring role in John Carpenter’s horror flick Halloween, becoming a star of the genre. This was followed by roles in other horror films such as “Fog – Nebel des Grauen” and in the sequel to “Halloween II”.

When she left the genre in the early 1980s, she acted in films like “Hörig”. In it, she drew attention to herself with her visual charms. She then played a prostitute in the comedy “The Soldiers of Fortune”, for which she received the “British Film Academy Award”. This was followed by roles in “Perfect”, “Wanda”, “Blue Steel” and in “True Lies” as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife. Jamie Lee Curtis received a Golden Globe for her performance in this role. However, she returned to horror films and starred again in ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’. She also starred opposite Mel Gibson in Forever Young and My Girl. Jamie Lee Curtis also worked successfully for television. She has acted in films such as And Now She Becomes a Soldier and had a starring role in the series Anything But Love. For this series she was awarded another “Golden Globe” and a “People’s Choice Award”.

She received the 1995 American Comedy Award for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in “True Lies.” Meanwhile, Curtis has written children’s books such as When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old”s Memoir Of Her Youth (1993) and Tell Me Again About The Night I Was Born (1996). Jamie Lee Curtis married actor and director Christopher Guest in 1984. When the latter inherited the title of Baron Haden-Guest in 1996, Curtis became “Lady Haden-Guest”. Privately, she became the mother of adopted children Annie and Thomas. In 1989 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her subsequent film projects included another horror film entitled Halloween: Resurrection, which was released in 2002. In mid-November 2004, Curtis herself announced the end of her film career. For the 40th anniversary of the Halloween series, she was again in front of the camera in the role of “Laurie Strode”.
