The only clear picture we have from the job cut numbers this year is that employers appear to be confused about the direction this economy is taking, ... Companies are experiencing increased business, but they are also seeing their costs soar due to higher fuel prices, inflation in supplier prices and a weaker dollar, which makes it more expensive to buy foreign parts.

The point is that when they talk about quality of health care, patients mean something entirely different than experts do. They're not talking about numbers or outcomes but about their own human experience, which is a combination of cost, paperwork and what I'll call the hassle factor, the impersonal nature of the care.

The perception here is that traffic on the Internet was weak and, definitely, Yahoo!'s numbers are going to be used as a proxy or benchmark for the other players in the space.

The performance numbers look good to me, and the power consumption is reasonable -- as opposed to unreasonable with many other servers.

The performance was stronger than the headline numbers suggest. It suggests that manufacturing is accelerating.
