Initially, the German Shepherd was used exclusively to protect livestock from predators. But the excellent intelligence, dexterity, and strength of dogs of this breed were noticed by dog handlers, as a result of which they began to be used as rescuers during hostilities and emergency situations, to protect borders, search for criminals and protect property.
