Simply put, Psychonauts 2 has been worth the wait. Both as a sequel and as a standalone game, Psychonauts 2 is superb. Psychonauts 2 is a fun, endearing puzzle platformer full of quirky challenges and entertaining dialogue. If you’re a fan of the original, or just enjoy platformers, Psychonauts 2 is a great purchase.
Raz’s adventure even received multiple nominations at this year’s Game Awards, including Game of the Year. Although, or maybe because, it wasn’t enough to win the game, the development studio Double Fine has of course had its sights set on the future for a long time.

We have already reported that the action game offers a lot of ways to reach your goal. It is up to each player whether he proceeds more secretly or makes full use of the successful shooter mechanics. Sometimes a mixture of both variants is the right way. The story of Deathloop, on the other hand, can be played more linearly, but convinces with its mysterious nature and exciting plot twists. It’s really fun to find new clues every day to get closer to the perfect assassination. Despite the time warp, invading the four districts and finding new ways to take out the eight visionaries never gets boring.
There’s a spark between Colt and Julianna
One of these eight visionaries is the assassin Julianna Blake. Our opponent doesn’t want us to break the loop and doesn’t tell us that just once. We are in constant contact with her via radio. The ongoing dialogues between the two main characters make us smile more often. It becomes clear relatively quickly that the two have met frequently in past time loops.
Julianna is responsive to every action we take on Blackreef and always feels one step ahead of us. Should we get too close to her visionary friends again, she takes matters into her own hands and tries to stop us with force of arms – always with a snappy joke on her lips. The entire story benefits from the constant, sarcastic teasing of the two characters. But we don’t want to reveal more here.
The party crew
Our other target persons also keep speaking up from time to time. However, more indirectly than Julianna. The completely insane genius Charlie Montague, for example, uses loudspeaker announcements to announce his crazy games, in which the number of victims tends to skyrocket. We also hear the monologues of radio presenter Frank Spicer regularly over the loudspeakers scattered around the island. We can also read group chats of all eight visionaries on discoverable terminals. That’s also really entertaining, because our drunken opponents are anything but united in most discussions.
In addition to all the dialogues among each other, we must of course not forget Colt’s soliloquy. The poor guy just wants to know who he is and how to break the time warp. Due to the amnesia that can be traced back to the loop, it doesn’t turn out to be that easy. Luckily, inspirations that flicker across our screen in written form keep helping him. And like Julianna, our hero always has a quick-witted saying about the current situation.
Rich, crazy and yet somehow endearing
As already mentioned, the characters in Deathloop fit the overall picture perfectly. In addition to Colt’s and Julianna’s past, we also learn nice little bits of information about the other visionaries in between. For example, Frank likes it a little louder and organizes fireworks over the coast, Charlie runs a live-action role-playing game with a sci-fi look and Harriet Morse likes to experiment on living objects. Our opponents are somewhere between genius and madness. But what do you expect from rich people who develop a time warp to celebrate great parties every night? Despite their nature, we don’t even remember some of the characters as unsympathetic. That would be bad too, after all we have to endure it every day anew.
But it’s best to get an idea of the mysterious story, the funny dialogues and the crazy characters for yourself. Deathloop has been available as a console exclusive on PlayStation 5 and PC since September 14th.

How “The Quack Doctors of Quedlinburg” works
Choose a sufficiently large surface so that you have enough space to spread out.
The player who cooked last gets to start. He must shuffle the fortune telling cards, lay out the victory point track and place the shuffled fortune telling cards face down next to it.

The drop stone is placed on the zero space of the cauldron board. Place the bottle with the filled side on the far right on the coaster shown, the rat stone in the bowl to the left – everything in the chosen color, of course. A ruby goes on the bag space.
Each player’s victory point marker is placed next to the “1” space on the victory point track. The yellow flame on the “1” space of the round indicator, these are the candles on the victory point track, while the four seal tiles with the “0” face up find their place on the seal spaces.
Place the ingredient chips according to their values of 1, 2 and 4 in piles within your reach. You also place the dice and rubies on the table and the crackers in their own pile.
At the beginning of the game, each player also receives a fixed number of ingredients and crackers, which are shown on his cauldron board – they are the same for everyone and go into the black bag.
At the end of the preparation, you distribute the books. Pay attention to the version of the book that you can recognize from the bookmarks. Gameplay
In the first of the nine rounds you only need the green, blue and red books, the pink and yellow ones are used later.
At the beginning of the round you reveal a fortune teller card, which contains a task for all players. Lay this card face up next to the face-down deck.
Fortune telling cards
Depending on whether a purple or a blue fortune teller card is drawn, you must perform the action immediately or at the end of the round. Sometimes you can choose between actions. In such a case, the player who revealed the card begins and the game continues clockwise.
The rats come into play from the second round, after you have uncovered and implemented another fortune teller card. All but the current player can place their rats in the cauldron, moving the rat token forward accordingly. You can read off how many fields that are from the victory point track by counting the small rats on the edge of the fields.
Brewing the potions
Now you can start brewing the potions by taking the chips out of the bag one after the other and placing them on the fields of the cauldron. And that blind! Pay attention to the drop or the rat and place the chips behind them according to their value. If you e.g. For example, a 2-chip is placed after the drop, it must be on the second space after the drop.
After each laying, each of you is given the option to draw another, or quit because you don’t want to take the risk.

End of round and start of next round
The end of the round can be heralded with two rubies, in which either the drops are advanced or the bottles are refilled. In addition, the rats come back out of the cauldron into their bowl and the next player in clockwise direction takes the fortune teller cards. You must also place the flame on the next candle on the victory point track.
Everything comes to an end
When you are at the end of the 6th round, you must reveal your chips – all at the same time and on the command “stir” from the player who has a fortune telling card in front of them. Depending on the player’s decision, you draw a chip or your empty hand from the bag. In addition, rubies can be exchanged for victory points (2:1) or money (5:1).
In the end, the player who was able to place their marker furthest in front wins. If several have arrived at the same place, the one who was able to fill his cauldron the most wins. And if that doesn’t bring any results either, the group decides!
Important to know
The chips have different tasks. The white and orange fill the cauldron but have no other meaning.
The blue, red and yellow chips are so-called action chips that can be used directly.
The actions of the green, purple and black chips can only be used at the end of a round.
At the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd round you take the yellow or the purple book. In the 6th round you put a 1 chip of the crackers in the bag.
You can use the bottles as a kind of joker if you realize that the last chip you bet wasn’t the best idea. With that, it can be put back in the bag, but this does not apply if there was an explosion because of the snap peas. Once the bottle has been used, it must be turned to the empty side – the player can then continue to place his chips.

In principle, it is possible to use the ingredient books at your own discretion. We’ve outlined the process for beginners here, although the rules don’t change all that much. Alternatively, the cauldrons can also be turned upside down. Assemble your game plan from the eight parts. Form a heap of the wooden parts and put this ready next to the plan, along with the cloth bag. Everyone chooses a character and receives the corresponding figures.
The story book is your loyal companion and always guides you through the game.

The gameplay
Your moves follow a predetermined pattern:
Draw a wooden disc from the cloth bag to determine the next player

For the volcano you need four AA batteries, which you insert into the battery compartment.

Everyone chooses a color of face cards and lays them out as a 4 x 5 deck. Shuffle the yellow guessing cards into a face-down pile and take one face-down card from each hand. Memorize them and then place them next to your face cards.
Ask a Question
Take turns asking questions to get to the person you’re looking for. You can only answer the questions with “Yes” or “No”. Depending on the answer, turn the deck’s cards face down. The circle gets smaller step by step.
Do you have an idea who it could be?
If one of you thinks you know the person you are looking for, he/she expresses your suspicion. Depending on whether he/she is right or wrong, the game continues or not.

Upon resolution, the game ends and the player wins.
