The American actor, producer and Oscar-winning screenwriter has been one of Hollywood’s most successful mimes since productions such as “Armageddon” (1998) and “Shakespeare in Love” (1989). Benjamin Geza Affleck was born on August 15, 1972 to actor Tim Affleck in Berkeley, California.

As a child, Ben Affleck moved with his parents to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he attended school and became friends with Matt Damon. Shortly thereafter, his parents separated and Affleck was raised by his mother. Like his brother Casey Affleck, he took on roles in television films as a child. Affleck began his acting career at the age of 12 on the PBS TV show The Voyages of the Mimi. After this production was successful, the NBC miniseries “Hands of a stranger – Ein Mann takes revenge” followed in 1987. However, it has not yet been used for a feature film or even a cinema production. Affleck only got that opportunity in the 1992 school drama The Outsider. The story, in which a Jewish classmate sees herself exposed to the discrimination of the American provincial population of the 1950s, was based on the always topical subject of the anti-Semitic attitude of a society.

The film had considerable success, but it was not yet a breakthrough. In 1993, Affleck played a second and larger role in the production “Danzed and Confused”, which also ran in European cinemas, but did not bring in the desired number of viewers here either. After a few more productions, which were crowned with just as little success, Affleck recognized the cause of the problem in the quality of the scripts. So he decided, together with Matt Damon, to write the screenplay entitled “Good Will Hunting”. The story was filmed in 1997. The result was overwhelming and catapulted Affleck among the rising stars of Hollywood. The work also won an “Oscar” for best screenplay. From that point on, Affleck was one of the top stars, and as such he could choose the offers. He has already received a fee of over 500,000 US dollars for “Armageddon” with Bruce Willis.

Further work followed with stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow or Sandra Bullock in “The Stormy Way” or “Risk – The Fast Track to Riches”. With his role in the lavish remake of the Japanese attack on the US air force base in Pearl Harbor at the end of World War II, Affleck finally became a star. In 2001 he was in front of the camera for the comedy “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”. This was followed by the drama Lane Changer and the action thriller The Attack, both from 2002. For his role as George Reeves in The Hollywood Conspiracy, Ben Affleck received the Coppa Volpi” awarded. The production was released in German cinemas in 2007. On June 29, 2005, Ben Affleck married fellow actress Jennifer Garner in the Caribbean. Together they became parents of two daughters. In 2007 he produced and directed Gone Baby Gone. After “State of Play” (2009), he was in front of the camera for “The Town” and “The Company Men” in 2010.
