Since its inception in the early 19th century, the Jack Russell Terrier has been bred strictly for hunting. Later, the development of the breed was continued by Arthur Heinemann. Arthur Heinemann is the author of the first draft of the breed standard. In 1914, the “Parson Jack Russell Terrier Club” was founded, which lasted until the 40s. Later Russell Terriers, to improve the character and working qualities, began to breed with Dachshunds and Welsh Corgi. Short-legged Jack Russells were bred. The new breed immediately became incredibly popular in England. They are especially appreciated by people who contain stables – this is where Russell terriers are known for incomparable fighter rodents. In France, they were used for hunting wild boars in the forest and dense thickets. In 1975, the English Russell Terrier Club approved the first, unofficial standard, including 2 varieties: – short-legged, – leggy. Charismatic and affectionate, Jack Russell makes a great pet, but he can be difficult to manage. His outgoing personality has even outraged famous actors and gotten him involved in a bit of a civil war. Jack Russell Terriers need a lot of structured training early in life. Despite being small, these dogs are not ideal for apartments or small homes. Jack Russell has many qualities that make him an ideal family dog.
