The American actor comes from a family of actors and was able to look back on major productions at an early age. Jeff Bridges celebrated his breakthrough with “The Last Show” from 1971. He was honored with an “Oscar” nomination for his role, directed by Peter Bogdanovich. Bridges received additional Oscar nominations for 1974’s “The Last Dog Bite” and 1984’s “Starman.” He experienced great popularity through his clear style in mostly entertaining topics. His most successful productions also include “The Last Show”, “Rendezvous with a Corpse”, “The Fisherman King”, “Beyond Fear” and “The Door in the Floor”…

Jeff Bridges was born on December 4, 1949 to actor Lloyd Bridges in Los Angeles, California.

Bridges began his film career when he was a baby; at four months he was seen in the film “released on parole”. During his school days, he often starred with his brother Beau in his father’s television productions. Among other things, he had regular appearances in the successful series “Abenteuer unter Wasser”. After school he took acting classes. He attended University High School in Los Angeles and came to New York, where he apprenticed with Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen. Back in Hollywood, he became a rising star in 1971 when he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Last Screening. The 1970’s saw Bridges make it big when he starred in films such as Dogs Bite as Clint Eastwood’s partner. For this he got the second “Oscar” nomination and he acted afterwards in “King Kong” and in “Rendezvous with a Corpse”.

In 1980, Bridges starred in director Michael Cimino’s million-flop, Heaven’s Gate. The film was misjudged at the time and is now considered a masterpiece. Bridges has worked with a number of other famous directors. He was in front of the camera for John Carpenter’s “Starman”, as well as for Francis Ford Coppola’s “Tucker”, Peter Weir’s “Fearless” and Joel & Ethan Coen’s “The Big Lebowski”. Bridges received his third Oscar nomination for his performance in “Starman” in 1984, but again he was not the winner. Music became a great passion of his. He writes his own songs, including the hit “Lost in the Space,” which was used in Peter Yates’ film John and Mary. Jeff Bridges also indulged in music in the hit film “The Fabulous Baker Boys”, in which he starred as “Jack Baker” alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and his brother Beau.

He was also able to record great successes in the 1990s. Films like “Texasville”, “The Fisherman King”, “Beyond Fear”, “Without a Trace” and “Love Has Two Faces” underlined his skills. In the following years Jeff Bridges was represented in the successful productions “The Big Lebowski”, “The Muse” and “Rufmord – Jenseits der Moral”. The more recent film projects in which he worked as an actor include the cinema drama “Simpatico” from 2000 and the political thriller “Rufmord – Jenseits der Moral”. In 2001, he starred as “Dr. Mark Powell” in “K-Pax.” One of his most notable performances was his role in the drama The Door in the Floor opposite Kim Basinger. The film was released in German cinemas in October 2004. In 2005 he was in front of the camera for “Tideland” and “The Moguls”. The film “Rebel in Sneakers” followed in 2006.
